Project Management/Quality Programs

Project management is the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements, the discipline of planning, organizing, and executing the tasks needed to turn an idea into a tangible deliverable. It matters because it helps ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the expected quality of work, while identifying and mitigating risks, managing resources effectively, and keeping stakeholders aligned throughout the project lifecycle.

Then, the course introduces project management from a waterfall and agile perspective, focusing heavily on Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®). Then the course combines SAFe® with INCOSE Systems Engineering principles and introduces Model Based Systems Engineering. 3 Continuing Education Units (CEU)

  1. Gain the ability to implement Team Emotional Intelligence practices.
  2. Describe waterfall and agile project management methodologies and determine when each should be utilized.
  3. Create a project management plan using a SAFe® Agile approach.

Lean Six Sigma Management System

The Lean Six Sigma Management System is rocking the business world by helping organizations meet or exceed customer requirements through greater efficiency and profitability. “Sigma” is a statistical measurement term that indicates how far a given process deviates from perfection, and the highly disciplined Six Sigma process allows organizations to develop and deliver near-perfect products and services. The central idea behind Six Sigma is that if you can measure how many defects exist in a process, you can systematically eliminate them and get as close to “zero defects” as possible.

This course shows students how to identify and manage process-improvement projects using the systematic, analytical Six Sigma approach. Topics include management roles and responsibilities that support Lean Six Sigma philosophy, specific analysis techniques that can be applied to a process, and inspiring case studies of company successes. Class exercises include simulations that demonstrate the application of tools and techniques. 3 Continuing Education Units (CEU)

Benefits to the Organization

  • Identify and eliminate process inefficiencies
  • Streamline operations
  • Reduce costs
  • Enhance customer satisfaction
  • Gain higher quality products or services

Lean Six Sigma Certification

Type: Professional Development Certificate (Online and In-Person)

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate is more than just a title, it is a way of thinking, working, and most importantly doing business. Beyond achieving a highly regarded certification in the business world, Green Belt Graduates will change their approach to problems. Green Belts will follow a systematic approach to analyze and solve problems based on data. Green Belts will choose the best solution for the problem through statistical data analysis, increasing the robustness of the project’s outcome. Green Belts will understand that there is no final solution to a problem and that improvement is a continuous process.

Skills Developed

  • Project and problem definition: How do you select a project?
  • Process map: How does it work currently?
  • Identify waste in the process
  • Voice of Customer: What does your customer want?
  • Data collection: Plan and analysis
  • Analysis of root cause of problems
  • Identify improvement opportunities
  • Solution selection upon statistical data analysis
  • Maintain the improvement achieved in your project

PMP Exam Preparation

Today’s Project Management Professionals (PMP®s) are nimble in adapting to increased organizational and project complexity. They can leverage the best of predictive, agile, and hybrid approaches to project management to respond to the needs of people, processes, and business environments. The well-recognized PMP® certification enables experienced project managers to both prove and improve their skills across the varying and complex domains of modern project management. This course will prepare project managers to pass the PMP® exam on their first attempt to join the ranks of certified PMP®s!

Benefits to the Organization

Even experienced project managers rely on these tried-and-true methods, having usually been schooled in either predictive or agile methods when they first learned project management. PMI®’s 2021 update to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) and the new PMP® exam have modernized the profession of project management, bringing the best of both approaches together and systematizing the hybrid approach to managing projects. Today’s PMP®s are nimbly able to deal with increased project complexity and hybrid project management. This exam prep course will diversify the skill set that your experienced project managers bring to the class so that they can join the ranks of truly nimble PMP®s.
